Why is This Project so Important?

Currently, 45 homes in San Gerardo de Rivas do not have a source of safe or adequate drinking water. Additionally the current source of the spring is endangered due to deforestation. Even for those who use the current aqueduct, the water frequently runs out and there is no way to add any additional homes to the line.

This project is focused on relocating the source of the spring within the Talamanca Nature Reserve which will be a plentiful and protected water source for generations to come. From there, 4.5km of aqueduct will be built along Calle La Chispa serving the San Gerardo Community.

The longterm vision is that this project will be the beginning of several phases of projects that will provide adequate water to each of the towns below including Canaan, Los Angeles and Chimirol.
